Tapestry exhibition “Music of Colour” by Hanna Zabudska based on Ivan Turetskyy artworks

Gallery Portal 11 presents an art project “Music of Colour” by artist Hanna Zabudska, who created a series of tapestries based on the paintings of renowned Ukrainian artist Ivan Turetskyy. 04.11.23-17.12.23.
The idea for this project emerged after visiting a large tapestry exhibition in Athens in January 2020. Our goal is to showcase tapestry as a manifestation of high art and explore new possibilities of cubo-futurist painting. The ambitious plan involved a symbiosis of contemporary painting and traditional weaving techniques. The concept requires combining the techniques of the two artists into a new form of visual language. Each artwork took a significant amount of time to create (from 3 months to several years).
We were fortunate to involve incredibly talented and skilled artists in the project, who have achieved a high level of creativity in their work. Ivan Turetskyy and Hanna Zabudska are wonderful experimenters, and their collaboration has resulted in a unique collection of tapestries.
Gallery Portal 11 initiated and organized the project.
In conclusion, it is worth noting that Ukrainian culture has preserved ancient traditions of the weaving arts. The unique collection of tapestries is the first example of the synthesis of cubo-futurist painting and weaving interpretation.
