“Formal Stories”. 10.12.22 – 08.01.23.

“Formal Stories”
«At the start of studying visual arts you encounter questions about the relationships between different medias. For example, how is work in space differ from work in a plane. Or how can colour change the feeling of a line? Of course, you will discover somehow that everything is actually much more interconnected than it seems. The most interesting thing is that such an experience in life can be achieved only by feeling the individual current and its limits. In this way, the artist’s own world, his own language and expression are built. Identification is born.
Sometimes they say “in this work, the artist explored…”. I never saw myself in the role of some kind of explorer during work. I’ve always just shared my creative ideas. Therefore, you can probably say about my works: “The author shared these works.” When telling a story, the main thing is to believe in it yourself and be sure that it is worth hearing. Even if these are temporary trifles or small jokes, which are also an integral molecule of our existence.
In the exhibition “Formal Stories” I want to share those parts of life that have caused me enough emotion and confidence to devote time to them and translate them into real work. These are abstract reflections, a touch of humor, captured and imprinted feelings, experiences for today. Or maybe, to a certain extent, even attempts to escape from reality so far that there is not enough strength to go back.
Most of the works were completed or started before the events of the full-scale russian invasion of Ukraine. Therefore, for me personally, the completion of these works is a kind of symbol of the continuation of life.»
