Group exhibition “Surrealism in Ukraine”

Gallery Portal 11 presents group exhibition “Surrealism in Ukraine”. 30.07.2021 – 05.09.2021.

“Beloved imagination, what I most like in you is your unsparing quality…” Andre Breton wrote in his 1924 Manifesto of Surrealism. And we do not spare the fact that modern Ukrainian surrealism is not fully represented on the art scene. So we are taking a step on our part to change this. Surrealism still occupies an important place in the art world. Like any field of art, it transformed significantly under the influence of global events. Therefore, the answer to the question “What surrealism is today?” cannot be obvious. In the exhibition we reveal a selection of works representing what surrealism in Ukraine nowadays looks like. We have selected 13 artists who work in various techniques and media and are ready to demonstrate their surrealism in the space of our gallery.
