Exhibition by Maksym Mazur “Transliteracija”

Gallery Portal 11 presents exhibition by Maksym Mazur “Transliteracija”. 03.09.22 – 25.09.22.
The project is based on the transformation of visual images, symbols, signs and objects into an abstract sensory form outside the traditional objective world-view perception. The author deliberately abandoned classical painting materials in favour of experimenting with objects, trying to use their own potential. By purging the ready-made of excessive information with colour, the artist achieves visual expressiveness, moves away from the production of an illusory reality, presenting the works as elements of this reality.

Estranging oneself from picturesqueness as an image, the author delves into the texture, style, colour, shape and plasticity of the object, deprives things of a specific image up to the complete loss of the original objectivity and requires thematization of the creation process as a final result. The transliteration method transmits text from one graphical system by means of another graphical system. The method became the basis of the standard for translating non-Latin writing systems into the Latin alphabet while preserving the letter image of the words.

Maksym Mazur was born on March 25, 1990 in Reshetylivka, Poltava region, Ukraine. He was educated in Taras Shevchenko State Art High School, Kyiv (2005-2008) and National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture, specialty “Easel Painting” (2008-2014).
