Gallery Portal 11 presents exhibition by Barbudaz «Trinity». 1.10.2021 – 17.10.2021.
Trinity is a sacred number in Christianity. The creation of works in the form of a triptych has a long tradition (for example, Catholic altars). Each triptych of Barbudaz started with one work, then “serendipitously” expanded into something more. Each painting of the triptych is self-sufficient and can be perceived both as a part of the plot and as an independent painting. Thematically, the artist’s works intertwine the life of metallurgy, megacities, the usual life of workers with a kind of chthonic images, local angels and demons. The exhibition presents 13 works, 9 of which are combined into triptychs.
Barbudaz was born and raised in an industrial metallurgical city. For some time artist worked at a factory, where he studied the nature of society and the nature of a man in particular. In his work, Barbudaz combines traditions of the West and the East, synthesizes techniques of engraving, expressionism, and primitivism. It took 15 years to develop his recognizable style. Personal exhibitions of the artist are held regularly, more than 50 paintings are in private collections.
